Eyebrows can make or break a face. To shape and trim them you can try microblading, a popular trend that involve a subtle way to enhance your everyday look.
What is Microblading?
It is a semi-permanent cosmetic treatment using a small blade dipped into pigment to create the perfect hair strokes that blend in with and enhance your natural eyebrows. Between 6-14 small needles are used for each eyebrow– hence the name microblading.
Because each stroke is done carefully by hand, the artist can create the perfect density, colour and brow shape for each individual client. It is generally a two-step process and after the final touch up, the client will have full and natural-looking brows that will last anywhere between 1-3 years.
What Does a Typical Appointment Look like?
Your first session usually lasts 2 hours. The first thing is to design your brow shape based on your face and bone structure. The pigment choice is then selected. Once your shape and pigment are agreed upon, your eyebrows will then be numbed using a special cream. The numbing usually takes about 20 minutes to take effect. Then your new eyebrow shape is drawn using a temporary marker. Afterwards, the hand-held blade, also known as a pen, is used to simulate hair strokes in the brow.
There is no swelling, or discolouration so you can walk right out the front door and show off your new eyebrows.
After your initial appointment, a touch up can be done between 4-6 weeks. It is not always necessary, but it is helpful as it insures that the colour is locked into the epidermis and doesn’t migrate or leave the skin completely.
How is Microblading Different than Eyebrow Tattooing?
Eyebrow tattoo is done with a motorized device, whereas microblading is done using a hand-held blade. Microblading artists use pigment instead of ink. Pigment has a thicker consistency while ink has a watery texture.
Most pigments will last in the skin between 1-3 years while tattooing is permanent.
Does Microblading Hurt?
Before the microblading begins, a topical numbing cream is applied to the area to minimize discomfort, followed by a liquid anesthetic. You might feel a slight discomfort but it is almost painless.
Will my Eyebrows Look Fake?
The beauty of microblading is how natural they look. Whether you are one to do make-up or prefer to go without, these brows will frame your face and enhance your features from the moment you get out bed.
Who Can Use Microblading?
If you have health issues it might not be recommended you get microblading. You should consult a doctor before proceeding.
